GOAT MEAT PEPPERSOUP
This article focuses on how to make pepper soup. Pepper soup is a local dish popular in the Nigerian society. It could be made in a plethora of ways; it could be goat meat peppersoup, fresh fish Pepper soup, catfish peppersoup, or assorted meat pepper soup. This article will focus mainly on goat meat pepper soup. Before we get into the 'How', its important to let you know the 'what' or WHY.
So WHY GOAT MEAT PEPPER SOUP?
1.)Goat meat is low in calories, total fat, Saturated fat, and Cholesterol -Despite being classified as red meat, goat is leaner and contains less cholesterol, fat, than any other beef, which means it is ideal for those trying to stick to a diet.
It requires low-heat, slow cooking to preserve tenderness and moisture.
Goat meat has higher levels of iron when compared to a similar serving size of beef, pork, lamb and chicken.

When it comes to fat, goat meat is leaner than other meats. It also has far lesser calories, - While red meat is known to be high with saturated fat that increases cholesterol levels and leads to heart disease, goat meat is said to have very low levels of saturated fat and will pose no harm to your heart health. The low levels of saturated fat in goat meat is said to improve blood cholesterol levels and ease inflammation. - With cholesterol levels shooting through the roof in most households, it is important to watch your diet. Goat meat comprises very little cholesterol and hence, can be consumed regularly. - .
Minerals:-Goat meat also contains higher levels of iron than chicken.
Iron is an important nutrient especially for women — a lack of iron reserves is known to cause anaemia.
Also, goat meat, contains higher potassium content with lower sodium levels.
Protein: -The meat is also packed with proteins — another important nutrient the body needs everyday.
2.)Vitamins:-Pepper is high in Vitamin C Content and aids in digestion of food,Goat meat comprises Vitamin B, which is known to help one effectively burn fat. So, a tiny portion of the meat is good for those trying to lose some weight, it is packed with B12, which is known to help you get healthy skin.
3.)Fluid: Water is a prerequisite in the digestion process and good for the body.
Besides it’s use for enjoyment during the especially during festive season, Pepper soup of any kind is an appetite enhancer especially if you are under the weather.
To make your pepper soup you will need the following;
INGREDIENTS Cooking for three people
Onions 1 bulb (cut and mashed)
Pepper; black pepper (2 tablespoon),
white pepper (½ table spoon),
yellow pepper (2 teaspoons)
3 Scotch bonnet (grind)
Seasoning; Goat Meat Flavour (to taste),
Beef flavour (to taste),
Salt (to taste),
Goat meat pepper soup spice (optional)
Vegetables; Scent leaves (I teaspoon) Uziza Leaves (1 table spoon)
Calabash Nutmeg I teaspoon
Goat Meat 400 grams
6 cups of Water
NO NEED TO ADD OIL: there's already oil in the meat.
PREPARATION
Chop the scent leaves
Wash Goat Meat in a clean bowl;
Insert goat meat inside pot; add very little water; boil for five minutes, add onion mash.
Boil for twenty minutes, add salt and seasoning. Stir making sure its well marinated and distributed. The heat will help melt the seasoning into the meat. So don't worry.
Bring medium amount of water to a boil, pour into the cooking meat; Let the meat be sufficiently immersed in the water.
Add all the pepper (both fresh and dry) and Nut meg (ehu: our secret ingredient. So Shhhhhh...)
Add the vegetables (scent leaves)
Cook until meat is tender.
Serve pepper soup hot, with boiled potatoes, rice or yam (optional).
Tip:
You can include organ meat ( liver, intestine, kidney)and offals ( tripe/shaki) in your pepper soup.
