Basic Steps to achieving/maintaining healthy Lips
1.)Wash: run plain clean water over your lips, using fingers to gently swipe over them. I particularly love to do this first thing in the morning and after every meal, doing this will prevent any meal residue from drying up on your lips and forming crust and Grimes! Yuck!

2.)Stop licking those lips: Be warned! If you fall under this category, please stop! Wet spit on the lips welcomes germs and bacteria, which leaves lips vulnerable. Spit also has a tendency of drying real fast. Once dry, a crust forms! Or even worse blisters  Use a balm or moisturizer instead.

3.)Drink water: consuming water is not enough! Consuming enough water is! Drink 6-8 glasses of water everyday. First thing in the morning and during the day. Water keeps the skin moisturized, especially the lips. Water nourishes the skin and helps in growth of new skin cells. Dry skin and lips indicate that your skin is not properly hydrated. Water has a whole load of other benefits too. Dehydration is a No-No.

4.)Scrub/exfoliate: 'scrub-scrub-scrub those bacteria away.' Because really, if you don't, who will? They say digestion starts from the mouth and its TRUE. Don't make your lips a breathing ground for germs. A party day after day at your lips!  Scrub those slough and grime out! I've got a remedy just for you.

When it comes to scrubs, there are the mild ones(that feel like nothing, but actually go a long way) and the not so mild (Sugar, peels, or Salt).

Exfoliating or scrubbing improve blood circulation in the lips and make them healthier and lighter with time.

5.) Moisturize: Apply natural balms, oils, butters, etc to your lips. Even if it's your body cream or lotions, just keep those lips moisturized. Moisturizing keeps lips soft and supple. Prevents drying, prevents lips licking, prevents sores and sloughs.

Sun bathing: Avoid long hours under the Sun.

This remedy gives round (plum) soft pink lips. Protects your lips from harsh Sun Rays.

Keep in Mind
Resist the urge to lick the sweet honey-sugar scrub off your lips. Avoid excessive licking of lips. The saliva will dry out the freshly exfoliated skin of your lips, making them chapped and dry. Commercial lip balms often contain chemicals that can make your lips dull over time. Try using lip balms made from natural ingredients or use a homemade lip balm. You can also use the juice of fresh mint leaves mixed with lemon juice and honey as a lip brightener. If you have a habit of licking your lips, you’ll need to kick it to the curb, as the saliva makes the lips chapped and dry, making them dark and dull over time. Protect your lips from sun damage and keep your body hydrated. If the darkness of your lips is genetic, there may not be much that you can do about it. Cut down on your smoking as well as caffeine and alcohol intake. Always remove lip makeup before going to sleep. Don't use any expired lip products. Throw them out.

Getting pink lips is easy, but maintaining them is the hard part. Stay hydrated, get your vitamins, and avoid bad habits to ensure you get great looking impressive pink lips. To protect them, apply lip balm regularly and very frequently to ensure all the moisture in your lips stays locked in.

Note: Most of the remedies here, can be refrigerated. Any remaining mixture, should be preserved(4 days or more, depending). Although nothing beats a fresh batch !
Feel free to try out one or more of this remedies!

Till next time, Stay Beautiful...
